Keep the Fire Burning
Today it is one degree after
a long time I can see now my
red wooden bench
It was embedded in knee
down snow for weeks
in my front yard
Front lawns are looking like
a green and white mosaic
as snow is still there
Squirrels are happily running
around I am waiting for my
friend to pick me up
It is morning everything looking
so fresh sun is shining giving
glitter to snow
No one is scared of winter
anymore plants are also giving
a Nod to the festive atmosphere
I am enjoying walking on my
driveway looking so different
no snow for a while
I am wearing my light black long coat
which my daughter in law picked
up and my son got it for me
from Scarborough Town Center
Scarborough Center
my favorite Mall not so big
still so much activity going
on all the time
All transit systems terminate and
start from there you can get
connections to downtown
and to anywhere in the city
There is an inter city Go bus service
RT the overhead train and the
TTC buses connecting to city
Subway system
Because of all this Scarborough
Town Center is always very
busy it is difficult to find
a spot in the food court
30 years back this was the first
Mall we visited so I have an
emotional attachment
We humans are full of emotions
but we are running between work
and family affairs trying to sort
Everything out
We have so much distraction
and because of that we hardly have
any time left to get connected
to our sentiments
Please take some time off to
connect with your inner self
it will bring happiness
to your Life
Keep the fire inside always burning
to lead a Wonderful Life
I have posted the blog in Smile Corner. Today being the weekend and also holidays, there are lot more people than normal. There is no place inside, but people are still coming in

I won the race today to post the blog in our corporate noticeboards. I came in early to do so and also brought the Smile Donuts however the SDs were already there alongwith the note that these Smile donuts are from a Smile addict. I am not sure where the donuts came from. Also they appeared to be fresh
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I know we have an office full of SAs, but SDs appearing every day is a mystery.

I am organizing a Smile Walk today so lets discuss it then. I was planning on organizing one any ways as we have a light day today and most people have been asking me about it for some time

ReplyDeleteDear Advisor, The retirees read this blog together and it was well worth it. The retired author and the retired professor of English literature commented that for them this is their Christmas present. The words and the tone you described to describe seemingly ordinary scenes is breathtaking. The retired professor of Philosophy commented that this blog's underlying message of keeping connected with the inner self is very timely and the essence of this season. Bottom line, there were lots of takeaways from this blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for making our Friday so much brighter

SWS was simply fantastic. We decided to go for a long one as this is the last of the year.
DeleteTiara
SWN was huge success also. We went through the nature route today as the blog inspired us to do it. We were looking at nature and thinking about the blog.

ReplyDeleteThis post reads like classic English literature. It describes scenes so beautifully that you want to be there standing in the cold, just to be a part of it

Though we have been relishing your prosaic prowess over these holidays, today's scripture made us reach out to our handhelds incessantly. Your illustrative description of the front garden scene, and the resplendent imagery of the morning was simply breathtaking. We felt that we were part of the scene and waiting for your friend alongside you.
ReplyDeleteWe also appreciated the concluding comments in which you counseled us to remain true to ourselves.
Thank you for your daily journals and wisdom.

Hi Smile,
ReplyDeleteI hope you remember me. I think about three or four months ago, I reached out to you, actually no sorry I am wrong, my daughter reached out to you. I was at the lowest point of my life, and you pulled me from the hole I had dug myself in, being retired and alone. I am happy to tell you four months later, after reading and reading your advice everyday, I have never been happier. I have gotten a job volunteering at the library everyday, I no longer have any time to think any depressing thoughts. I call my daughter once in a while, before I used to bother her every few hours. Now I go on walks, I have lost a little weight from walking so much and this is all because of you. Smile, you have changed my life and I just want everyone on your page to know this. I can't thank you enough, but I know I have made a friend for life.
Yours Always,
Xin Miller.
