Anotheer new morning

Image
Every morning is different and unique, so is every day. The weather is a bit different, not the same.  The atmosphere around with a different scenario. We are not the same. We take mornings and days with different attitudes.  It all depends how we feel inside on that day. Sometimes things are not so good. The weather is too hot or sometimes too cold and we still feel good. We take everything with a positive attitude. Ready to go ahead to enjoy our time. Some days the weather looks perfect. The flowers are smiling, the birds are chatting. Nothing wrong with our sleep. Our body parts are also in good shape ready to cooperate with our plans. We are not ready. Something is missing. We are not in a position to enjoy our time.Something is missing from our inside. The peace inside I think. I believe there are so many factors that matter in our life. Not only the world outside decides how we take our mornings, our days. Sometimes we miss our loved ones not with us. They are gon...

My doctor's report card

Image
The weather is great. Not too hot. Not too humid. Beautiful morning. Cool breeze with 24 C.  It's 10.30 in the morning. I am just out of the dentist office. Dentist appointments at my age are a bit scary. Not only Dentist, any Dr appointment is not at my welcome note. We won't be getting A grade in our report card from any of the doctors. We know that our body is old and needs repairs and replacement of some of our body parts. We know any doctor won't be able to give us a clean slate. Not even the passing marks. Anyway this is life. We have to accept whatever there is with patience. We have to realize that we enjoyed our life with this body of ours, much stronger than today. Nothing is forever. Life keeps on changing and so does our body. We undergo a systematic change throughout our life. Change from our childhood to kids to teens to adults and finally to the later stages of life. We managed and accepted every stage of life with open hearts so what's wrong now. I bel...

Enjoying Memories

Image
Another hot morning. Humid, the sun is shining in full bloom. The  month of July is nearly done.  Just one more day to go. It is 9.15 in the morning. I have to do my laundry. I will put my comforter in the washer. It is bulky so it will take longer to wash.  I don't do that so often. Just a couple of times in a year. Too much work to handle. I will do that now after that I will have my breakfast. By the time I will be done with my laundry. I will start getting ready for my walk. We have to organize things to streamline our time table for the day. After our retirement, we have to manage things on our own. We still have twenty four hours to handle. It is a hot day so I have to pick something light to wear from my wardrobe. I picked my flowery georgette top. Very light and not a see through one. It reminded me of my friend. I bought it from the Bay departmental store with her. Decades ago we used to go to the Scarborough Town Center to enjoy our time together. She use...

It is a different world

Image
It's a new world. So different. So much has changed after COVID. So much has changed in decades.  Letters and postcards are the stories of the past. So are the telegrams. It is an era of Whats App. We don't need telegrams and long distance phone calls to break any news. Whats App is at your service running twenty four hours a day. We have to switch our phones off to get a break and to have some sleep. I put my phone on sleep mode at night. I check my phone first thing in the morning. We all are addicted to our phones. Why to blame our kids and teens. I got the news that my aunt passed away back home. I haven't seen her in decades.  She had severe dementia. She was close to me and my family. I have beautiful memories of the moments we spent together. Our brain acts like a power plant. It keeps itself connected to our mind and body. It starts rolling the clips from our cycle of life at the time we need any. He is always so sure that you like to share all that at th...

I am enjoying my coffee

Image
It's early morning. The sun is in full bloom, bright, shining from up and above to make our day brighter.  My friend the White Butterfly is whispering to the pink Canadian roses. The Butterfly is sharing something secretly. I think they are close friends.  The roses are smiling, shaking their bodies. They are enjoying her company. Friends are friends. It was raining yesterday. I didn't have to water my garden. The grass is green. The trees look happy. The flowers are giving smiles. My deck is all clean. All of my four red knitted steel garden chairs are shining under the sunlight. The glass top of my steel garden table is clean too. I am done with my breakfast. It is 9.15, I am getting ready for my walk. Today I woke up quite early at 5.30 in the morning. Every day your body behaves differently. It gives you surprises to deal with. I gave my body time to revive. That worked. I was out of my bed at 8.15. Enough time for my body to get ready to cooperate with my plans. We ...

Beautiful Moments

Image
It is a hot morning with 41 C, it will be 43 degrees later on. Every season is intense here in Canada.  All four seasons come in full bloom with full intensity. We can have a feel of every season and enjoy the flavors of each. It was just a couple of weeks ago I had to use a jacket and gloves for my walk. It is totally a different scenario now. Tough to select what to wear in this temperature. One of my grade five school friends just called. She used to live in London downtown, Regent street. I have great memories of staying at her place for a couple of nights. We used to go for our day out plans.   Museums, gardens, restaurants, Que Gardens, together we visited in our good old days. Things change. She moved to her daughter in the Netherlands, visiting her brother here in Canada. She is leaving tomorrow, so she called me. I don't know if it is a good bye or if we meet again somewhere, some other time. We never know. It is a small world, a global village. Let's see. Her ...

Rabbit in my garden

Image
Spring is the time of revival.Time for things coming back to life. The trees around are no more like skeletons anymore.  They are loaded with greens. The gardens are also lush green. No more brown patches in between. Squirrels are playing hide and seek in gardens. Running up and down on trees to enjoy their time. Birds are! on tree tops calling each other I think to join the party out. The small brown rabbit just came enjoying his feast in my back garden. He loves grass. Sometimes he enjoys some of my flowers too. It is a hot day, 11.15 in the morning 29C. I am getting ready for my walk. The summer time is different. Easy to dress up. No more getting ready with layers, heavy coats, gloves and woolen stole. I have a couple of light tops to wear on summer days. It is just a few more weeks. Things will start changing from mid August. In September we will need jackets to go outside. We are enjoying our time for now. Not thinking about the days ahead. We learned to adjust our Can...

It is a rainy day

Image
We were just out of snow and now it's raining. We know that it is Canada. We need a break.  It is Saturday. Things are a bit quiet. People are dozing off or starting their day late enjoying taking their time at home. It is 9.30 in the morning, everyone is sleeping. Maybe they were awake till late night to enjoy the weekend. My son is awake and busy watching his program. TV is on, his laptop is also on. He is busy with that too. I think he is done with his breakfast now enjoying his day time. I am also done with my breakfast with my oatmeal porridge. I don't drink my morning tea / coffee. On the days I am working I use to have tea / coffee with my friends at the library with my senior club friends. The days I am off from work I mean not going to play Darts at the library, I walk to the coffee house to have coffee there to enjoy my time on my own. We have to chalk out our day plans on our own. No one will be coming to help us out to make our day. It happens only in stori...

Road to Windsor Castle

Image
It is the 17th of April,10 in the morning. I am at Camberley. I came last night from Kent.  Three of my daughters are scattered in various parts of England. I am shunting between Grimsby, Kent and Camberley. I am now at Camberley on the last leg of my trip to England. Camberley is my youngest daughter's place. It is a beautiful small town in Surrey, England. She moved here from Reading a couple of months ago. My flight to Toronto is tomorrow at noon. I have to leave early in the morning from her place to Heathrow Airport. That will be the end of my two week trip to England from 3rd to 18th April. Today is the last day of my trip. My daughter has chalked out a full day of outdoor plans. My eldest daughter from Edmonton is also here. We three are on the way to Windsor Castle. We enjoyed walking around the Castle. Swans and boats were floating on the sparkling water surface. The weather was great. No rain, we still had to wear our winter coats. Pigeons were around adding up the...

All packed ready to go

Image
Just two days left for my trip to England. The weather over there is a bit cold. Frost and chilly.  My daughters called me to get a winter coat, gloves and woolen stole everything for there. Travel nowadays is a bit tricky. Especially for the people of our age. England is seven plus hours from Toronto. On the way back it will be eight hours. Half an hour extra. Going on trips everything will not be the same. The weather, the room we are used to and our bed. We people already have to face so many sleepless nights in our own room, in our own bed. I don't know what will be there with everything changed. I think nothing comes with a total plus. We have to accept some negatives to make our time. I am going to attend my granddaughter's wedding. All of my daughters, my son and my daughter, the eldest one will also be there from Edmonton. Everyone will be there with their families. I will see my entire family and my one year old great granddaughter too.  Amazing moments of my ...

I am enjoying my walk

Image
It is 10 in the morning. Beautiful sunny day bright morning. The weather is also great.  It is 2 C below zero, feels like 8 below. I can see from my window that the walkway looks clear. I have to make some calls after that I will try my luck to go for my walk. I have to call my sister-in -law back home.  Phone calls to your loved ones help to make your day. My husband passed away decades ago. I am still connected with his family members. My daughters call me every time around noon. They go back from work at that time.   They are five hours ahead of my time in Toronto. I have to go to England early next month. One of my granddaughters is to be married. I am excited for my trip to see three of my daughters, my grand kids, my sister and so many other loved ones. My eldest daughter will also be coming from Edmonton to attend the wedding ceremony. I feel lucky to see all of my family. I am happy, still under pressure. I am having mixed emotions, I think. Travel at the later s...

Cherry on top

It's Sunday 9.15 in the morning. I am done with my breakfast. It started snowing. This year snow started early and is still going on. We have already had enough of it. Trees are loaded with white stuff. We have to clear off snow every morning from our cars and driveways. Snow is along the roadside sort of snow banks.  Snow removal trucks are busy most of the time on roads. I salute all the front line workers for their work and patience. I checked my table calendar. I have to change my bed sheets. I will do laundry now. It is just a small load. I will change the sheets and make my bed later. I will take out the lilac color of sheets from my linen closet.  Change of anything always adds up colors. It helps to elevate our mood. Controls our mood swings. We have to look for any change. Wherever we can, we have to take it. It is 1.30, I am done with my laundry and taking some calls. I don't make calls on weekends. People must be busy enjoying their family time. We have...

Beautiful morning

Image
Beautiful day bright sunny morning. Snow now is not causing any problems. All the snow is piled up by the roadsides.  The walkway is cleared of snow. I can’t see any icy patches here. The weather is also great, it's no more below zero. I am getting ready for my walk after a long time.  I think I might have forgotten how to walk outdoors. Let's see. I am all set to take my chances. The snow is not here now so much water is on the path, making it a bit messy to walk on. I have my joggers on. I think it will be fine. I am enjoying my walk. We have to look at the brighter side. Always take as, “ The glass is half full not as half empty. “. Everything comes in life with some positives and some negatives. It is always like a combo. Nothing is total plus. We have to look at the brighter side. That helps in changing our perspective of things in life. Try to make your days with whatever is available. Things change, so does the weather and so is our health. Nothing is there to persist ...

Sun smiling from above

Image
Another beautiful day. Another beautiful morning. Bright and sunny. It was snowing last night, not much, still enough.  Lots of snow is piled up around the side of shopping malls. Heaps of snow are by the road sides. The walkways are a bit slippery for me to walk on. I have to be patient and take a break. We have to think twice before making plans. Not have to be too ambitious. Health and safety have to be taken as top priority all the time. No compromises on safety. Spring is just a couple of weeks away anyway. It is not a big deal. Not the end of the world. We have so many other options to get busy to enjoy our time. We can do some physical activities at home too. Water plants, busy in the kitchen, walking around in our house  / apartment. Any chances to go to shopping malls will be a bonus like cherry on top. I feel lucky whenever my son or any one of my three grandsons will take some time off to give me a ride to get out. We have to keep track of the time table of t...

Snow snow go away

Image
This February looks tough, not like the years ago. Our winter days in Canada start by the end of September.  It starts becoming harder as the time goes by. December sometimes we get snow by the end of the month and have white Christmas.  Sometimes we get snow in January. In January there is snow most of the time. February is tough in the entire winter season. This year winter is really hard. We started having snow storms for the last couple of weeks. January was not the same as the past years. We are still not out of that. Today is 7th of February and we are having 20 C below zero feels like 35 C below. My walks outside are on hold. I now have to switch my walks. Now I have to go to Pickering Town Center. To top up my steps. Tim Hortons used to be a second home for me. I used to spend my time enjoying myself on the days I was off from my work. On those days I didn't have to go to play Darts in the library. The library I use is like my work place. Nothing wrong with maki...

Change seeps slowly

Image
Change is beauty. Change of scenery. Day ends giving its way to noon, dusk and finally to night. The night gives way to mornings. It is the beautiful cycle of change. Change is the beauty of life for sure. Our childhood changes into teens. We grow up to find change in our friends and our companions. We start our family. Our new life needs to change our place to shift into a new one. We are out of the house, where we spent time with our loved ones. Our parents and our siblings. We have to move out. We need space for our family. We have to change the house. We are done with our school days and have to start our career to step into practical life. The school building has been changed into a workplace. We see our school buddies once a while. No time now. We are busy with work. Colleagues at work are now our buddies. We hang along with them. So much has been changed in our habits in our thinking in what we talk and how we talk. We don't enjoy our time with most of our old buddi...

I am at Town Centre

Image
The snow storm is done for a while. Things are back to normal. Roads are busy.  Traffic is as usual that I can see from my window. Yesterday things were really bad. I went to attend the funeral of someone's father in the community. The front right side of our car was stuck in a ditch. I was sitting in front on that side. I had to get out from the driver's side of the door. I made it. By the Grace of God. Someone from the community dropped us home. We had to call Canadian Tire for tow truck service. It was too busy due to the weather so many calls to attend for them. It took all day to get the car back on our driveway. Thank God no damage was done. We were in one piece and so was our car. Done is done anyway. It is 10.30 in the morning. Everyone left for work. I am sitting on an empty nest. Just my eldest grandson is working from home. He is busy with his meetings and computer. It's Tuesday so I don't have to go to work. No Darts today. All sorts of grey green and blue...

Letter to my Dear Readers

Image
Dear Readers, I miss comments from you people. Covid changed so much in our life. It's not the same. Anyway we have to accept whatever is there. Hope things are fine with my Readers Family in Ireland. My friend the Cafe Manager is following the city directives. Not opening the Cafe on close holidays. The Reader doing two jobs must be listening to my friends, I mean to his supervisors. I hope everything is fine with my Retiree friends. Everyone please respect the sentiments of others. Religion and politics are very sensitive. Please don't talk about it. It's too personal for everyone. I am worried about Hannah and Niklas. I hope Kris is taking good care of them. Father has to leave them alone to enjoy their life. My dear Students, I love to see you people shine in your practical life onward. Have patience and focus on your studies and career. It is Boxing Day

Image
Today is December the 26th. Christmas is done. It is Boxing Day. People must be lined up in shopping malls. They wait for the special deals all year. It is a bright sunny day, snowing since early morning. The weather channel is predicting it will be all day. Let's see. We have to take whatever is there. My grandson, the eldest one, is going to get his morning coffee. He offered to drop me off at the Coffee House. So nice of him. I am getting ready to go. It is 10.45, I am at Tim Hortons. It's very quiet here. Tables are vacant. The drive through is also not busy. I got my favorite spot, enjoying my coffee and my time alone. I can see through the windows snow blowing and it is still snowing. I took my chances to come here, going back will be tough. We have to think twice before making any decisions. We don't have to get carried away. Anyway, it is done. I will keep that in mind for the next time. I think that we get carried away as we know that not much time left for us. We...

Happy Holidays

Image
Merry Christmas Happy Holidays         to my Dear Readers Family Beautiful morning bright sunny day. The weather is also good. Perfect day for walks.  Tomorrow is December the 25th Christmas day. Everyone is in a festive mood. People are busy getting and exchanging presents. Gifts are always a symbol of love. Matters a lot for everyone. It helps to maintain relationships. Gifts don't have to be precious or too expensive. The thoughts have to be genuine while giving presents to others. The person is important to others. Gifts are secondary. Sometimes people keep even small gifts for years like souvenirs. The person is the key. Sentiments are important, not valuable presents. To give presents is important to maintain the existing relationships. It also helps to initiate new relationships. Malls are busy, packed with customers. Everyone is busy with last minute shopping. I was busy last week, not much just getting a couple of cards and ...
