A Tale of Traditions

It was Karachi 1995 It was May 1995  I was sitting in the Bayshore Mall   of Ottawa, besides a coffee table in the cafe . I was absorbed in my dreams while my son was talking to his friends trying to get some stories from back home I don’t want to listen that it is better to be ignorant. It is good to cut off all the strings from back home so that I can move onwards still it makes one generation to settle down I migrated to Canada in 1992 it is 3 years back still in transitional phase in my adjustment period. My mother migrated from India to divided India named Pakistan in 1947 I chose my migration to Canada for my son brighter future but my Mom did not She was forced to migrate My mother used to cover her face It is only one generation passed and I can see the big difference even in her life style no more face cover In my mothers time girls were not supposed to see any visitors. Girls were not allowed to meet even ladies except to immediate relative

Respect is good,while being commanded not to be demanded While eating, talk to your plate Never air your dirty laundry, specially when it is very personal -- in the presence of others Timing is a critical factor, while solving issues It is best not to bring up sensitive issues first thing in the morning or at night after work It is widely accepted that day dreams benefit our mental health Act like a reminder mechanism to help and organize our lives It is a powerful coping mechanism when stress begins to build

Thinking is talking of the soul with itself Take ginger tea after a party to help your indigestion Drop out for a period of time, let yourself crash to have a break Let the house be dirty,order a pizza, or use freezer dinner Take charge, doctors give advice,but you make the decisions Break all tasks into pieces and tackle only one at a time Try to slow down once a while Have fun

Be Interactive

Be interactive, it always leads to positive results It is always good to postpone a confrontation While discussing the problem, remember that the goal is to reduce your stress Try to learn the secrets of taming tension and easing anxiety Have someone to lean on in the times when you are feeling low While resolving the issues,try to be open with other person's reasons Always give other person a chance to speak up

Sunshine

Get washed, dressed and go out every day, even if just to drive to the video store Feel the pain rather than take pills Try to distract yourself from the situation Pace yourself, engage in fun,pleasure activities Try to learn new things Try to feel Sunshine Evoke good memories Always serve your customer with a smile

Think Positive

You are allowed to be imperfect Our Fantasies and Dreams don't always turn out in real life We all have problems It is through problems we are challenged to grow Don't be scared of mistakes and failures These are part of Life It happens to even the most successful people Just give the best of your efforts and ability and relax Don't feel guilty for not achieving the impossible Think positive Make plans with your friends to go out and enjoy Have fun

Gift from God

Remember, God brings people into our lives for a reason Sometimes we don't even know their names Still they are there, in our minds for some reason These people are like an asset,a treasure They give strength and bring happiness in our lives In the times, we feeling low They are like a gift from God for our lives

Peace

Please keep in mind,anytime spent being unhappy is wasted Please don't punish yourself for every mistake Try to look forward to something beautiful, it will brighten your life Walking on water is certainly miraculous,but walking peacefully on earth is an even greater miracle Learning is a gift you give to yourself Try to be flexible and adaptive,you will always be a winner

Don't waste energy into being scared Being angry Try cooperation instead of competition and anger You don't always have to edge out the other person on the highway Don't always try to win an argument Learn to recognize and try to stop destructive and angry feelings Do something physical, if you feel pent up with anger or frustration Try to cool off by jogging Take a walk Exercise reduce tension

Faith

God enters through a private door into every individual Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change Give me the courage to change the things I can Give me the wisdom to know the difference Open up your heart and rekindle your spirit

Peace and Quiet

Walk through a garden Gaze into stars at night Go from indoor to outdoors Schedule some time for yourself Carve out some time for peace and quiet, it is essential for you Sometimes all you need is someone to listen

Sharing

Try to share your feelings, emotions and stories with others Stories are like fairy gold, the more you give away the more you have To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides To be loved gives us supreme happiness May I prescribe, my friends, I think the perfect drug  -------  A Hug

Roots and Wings

Try to give two great gifts to your children one is Roots, the other Wings When you yourself raise your children,you can understand your parents love Try to part with Loving words,it might happen you will not meet again in life Try not to say that you have been told that story before Try to be thankful for small things in your life

Happiness

Happiness does not depend on circumstances It depends on your attitude Try to spend time with children,they will reinvent your world for you Love and Prayers always help to overcome obstacles Try to stop to chat for a while you will feel great Spend more time with your children than your money The more we give of anything the more of it we will get back
