Enjoying at Second Cup

Image
It's a beautiful morning. The weather is great. It is 12 C, not below zero anymore.  It is time to walk around and enjoy the scenic atmosphere. The trees are no longer skeletons. I can see a tinge of green running through their bodies. It is spring. The time of revival of life. Time to hit the roads, trails and waters. The season of winter is over. Enough of staying indoors. It is time to get out. My back garden is back to life. The grass is lush green. My friend the Black Squirrel is back to do his exercises on the wooden fence of my garden. I see a couple of birds walking under the Magnolia tree in my front garden. The red wooden bench is shining under the sun. The sun is in full bloom showering his light all around to make our days brighter. It is 11.15, I checked my table calendar. I have to wash my hair. I don't wash my hair every day. We keep on losing our hair at the later stages of life. We have to be careful. My walking closet is all in a mess. When you pack for a tr...

Road to Windsor Castle

Image
It is the 17th of April,10 in the morning. I am at Camberley. I came last night from Kent.  Three of my daughters are scattered in various parts of England. I am shunting between Grimsby, Kent and Camberley. I am now at Camberley on the last leg of my trip to England. Camberley is my youngest daughter's place. It is a beautiful small town in Surrey, England. She moved here from Reading a couple of months ago. My flight to Toronto is tomorrow at noon. I have to leave early in the morning from her place to Heathrow Airport. That will be the end of my two week trip to England from 3rd to 18th April. Today is the last day of my trip. My daughter has chalked out a full day of outdoor plans. My eldest daughter from Edmonton is also here. We three are on the way to Windsor Castle. We enjoyed walking around the Castle. Swans and boats were floating on the sparkling water surface. The weather was great. No rain, we still had to wear our winter coats. Pigeons were around adding up the...

It is a hazy morning

Image
It's 10.30 in the morning. The sun is not awake, still under his grey blanket. Maybe drowsing.  I started my day a bit early. Every night comes with surprises. Some nights are better with good sleep, some are not. Same with mornings. Every morning comes with surprises. We don't know what we will be getting. It is like Christmas. We don't know beforehand which part of our body is not going to listen to cooperate with our day plans.  Every morning brings a different story at our age. So many things start coming up at the later stages of our life. We have to accept and manage accordingly. It is 11.15, the day looks a bit brighter. The sun is awake out of his blanket to make our day. So nice of him. I can see a couple of birds in the grayish sky up above. The snow nearly gone just traces around not much. It is 12.30, I am walking by the lakeside. My son has gone for his long walk. He will drop me at the Coffee House on the way later on. It is 1.15, I am at the Second Cup co...

Just a Drizzle

Image
Snowing has stopped for a couple of days.Today it's raining just a drizzle. Not much.  My walks are still on hold. The snow around started melting making conditions tricky to walk for me. Too much water on walkways. Muddy too. Safety is a priority all the time. No compromises on health and safety. We don't have to be carried away. We have to be patient. Patience is a virtue. Things are going to be better soon. Summer is just around the corner. The weather is getting better. The temperature now is no more below zero. We have to wait a bit. Things will be going back on track. It is a matter of a couple of days. My back garden is still under a thick sheet of ice. Things are the same with my front yard. The grass started showing up around the white sheet of ice. This is a great signal that our snowy days are about to be over soon. We can't wait. Our so many days were in double digits below zero. My eldest daughter in Edmonton was with 40 C below zero on so many days. Enough i...

Time to take a break

Image
It is a cold bright morning of the 6th of January. Chances of freezing rain ice pallets later on.  My walk outside is on hold for a while. Safety is a priority for everyone. We have to be extra careful at the later stages of our life. It looks like a different scenario with snow all around. The trees are decorated with white powder and loaded with cottony flowers. It is so peaceful, calm and quiet. Winter is the time to take a break. To stay indoors. To focus on your inner self. Time to talk to yourself. To listen to your inner thoughts. Time to take a break from your busy schedules. Every season has its own beauty. Its own identity. We can plan accordingly, to get busy and enjoy our time. We humans are amazing. We can make adjustments with any of our surroundings. Winter is the time to skate to play ice hockey. To plan skiing and ice fishing. It's time to hit the water. It is the time to take a break from hitting roads and trails. We have a different scenario for now. Birds...

Flowers are smiling

Image
Summer has long days and short nights. Days to get out. To hit the roads, trails and waters. Time to enjoy the outdoors. September will be done today.  October starts tomorrow. We are still enjoying our summer time. Not have to wear any jackets or sweaters. Time to bundle up is yet to come. We have a couple of more days to stay outside. To have a feel of nature around. Flowers are still blooming. Smiling in pots, planters and in flower beds.  The grass is lush green in our front and back gardens. Everyone is busy, planning picnics and outdoor parties. Lakeside is busy. The sun is shining in full bloom. Water is sparkling under the sun, like gold, silver and platinum.  Sailboats and canoes are scattered all over the water surface. This all gives a festive touch to the atmosphere. Festivity imparts positivity. It helps to elevate our mood. Helps to distract us from our day to day issues. We take some time off to be a part of all this.  Putting ...

Like a Movie to watch

Image
My flight to England is getting closer. It's on the coming Friday. Weather is getting much better, not too hot, not too cold.  It's so perfect 16C today, amazing. I am at the lakeside, walking in just with my light jacket. No gloves, no woolen scarf. Things change, that is the beauty of time. Nothing stays forever. Water at the lake surface is sparkling like silver. With time it turns to gold as the sun starts showering its light from time to time on the water. Beautiful wild flowers of so many colors are spreading amid all the green around. Things change so quickly. Last week it was a totally different scenario. Now it has changed, all so different. Looks like Nature keeps on changing the scenes on a big movie screen. Up in the sky are the same situation. The entire sky looks like an art gallery. Masterpiece paintings of art we keep on watching on a wide canvas. Sketches with pencils and watercolors. It is so beautiful, eye -catching. Nature Is amazing....

Via Train to Chicago

Image
It's 10.15, I am at Petticoat Creek. Beautiful view, beautiful morning. Water at the lake is looking great, deep blue, calm and quiet. Birds are chatting under the walking bridge. Maybe having a party. I can hear them loud and clear. Via the train, that connects America and Canada, is passing, on the overhead bridge. This train always reminds me of the times of my late youngest sister. She used to live in Chicago. Time flies. Memories linger on. Lots of people are here. Some are walking with their dogs. Some are busy with fishing. Some are walking around just like myself.  I am wearing a light jacket. Silk scarf, orange with a flowery pattern. My daughter, the middle one, gifted it to me. Couple of years ago while I was visiting her place, Grimsby in England. Days go by, beautiful memories, golden moments get stuck in our mind. Somewhere inside in our memory box. Like glistening jewels. We open up our memory box whenever we want. To enjoy our time to mak...

Waiting for Butterflies

Image
We are still waiting for summer in Canada. Still have to dig out our coat closets to bundle up. Rain usually comes late at night or early mornings to brighten our gardens. Grass is now turned into lush green with no brown patches in between. My front garden is looking great. The Magnolia tree on the left is loaded with beautiful peach color flowers with a pinkish hue. Red wooden bench is shining under the tree, adding up the beauty of my garden.  Skeleton trees look happy. Green already started running through their bodies. Looks like soon they will be back on the track. Twin Towers, the two tall trees in the front garden of my next door neighbor, started renovating their apartments to rent out. So much has changed in the past few weeks. It already started looking like a festive atmosphere. People are now in a festive mood. My back garden is a bit slow. Not so much activity there. I am waiting for my beautiful pink Canadian roses. It comes early, not like my bloo...

Birds churping around

Image
Great morning 21 C, a bit gusty with wind 54 km. Weather is like a roller coaster. Yesterday was cold. I needed so many things to bundle up for my walk. Today I am wearing a light jacket, not even my long light coat.  Summertime is not long here for us Canadians. We know that, so we enjoy it with full fervor. We start right away getting ready to get out to hit roads, trails and waters. It is a totally different scenario. Birds chirping around. Skeleton trees are back to life. Look happy with green tinge running through their bodies.  Squirrels are busy collecting food. I think they are having parties. Guests must be coming for a get together. Everyone looks in a festive mood, enjoying their time in their own style. Every season is unique with its own beauty. I remember the winter time. People were busy playing ice hockey and fishing in the middle of the frozen lake. They used to enjoy their walks in trails with long heavy coats, snow boots and gloves. We Humans ...

Love You Mom

March 29th 2025 It's a cloudy rainy day. Rain just started and will be for the whole day. March will be done and in a couple of days April will start. April showers May flowers. It is great news that Spring will be here shortly. Flower beds will be back to life. Birds will start nesting. The Magnolia tree in my front garden, started budding already. The Magnolia tree is always the first one to let me know that Spring is just around the corner. My friend the Black Squirrel will be here for his workouts on the wooden fence of my back garden. The Canadian rose plant will be loaded with beautiful pink flowers all around. I can't wait to see all that. Atmosphere will be loaded with aroma and all kinds of fragrances. Skeleton trees will no longer be Skeletons. They all will be back to life. There will be so much green around. It will be a totally different scenario. We will start planning to hit the roads, trails and waters. People will be busy outdoors, going fish...

I am at Coffeee House

Image
It is the month of March and the weather is a bit tricky. Charles Dickens was right to mention in one of his beautiful writings.  “ One of those days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold; when it is summer in the light and winter in the shade “. Amazing description so close to reality. Weather is getting better day by day. Snow is melting away. Sun looks much brighter in full bloom. Smiling from up and above. Summer looks just around the corner. Everyone is waiting eagerly making plans for partying outside. In Canada every season is intense and comes in full bloom. We Canadians have a feel of all and learned to enjoy every season. Winter comes with twenty to twenty five C below zero Piles of snow dumping around. Spring comes bringing everything back to life. Flower beds with all kinds of beautiful flowers. Skeleton trees now loaded with leaves around. Grass in gardens, is lush green. We see so much green all around. Autumn comes, bringing a totally dif...

I love my kitchen

Image
Happy St Patrick day to all my Irish friends We in Toronto are in the middle of a couple of snow storms. There were two back to back with twenty five centimeters of snow. Thirty years ago I used to live in Ottawa. There we experienced heaps of snow. Winter days were tough. long for more than six months over there. People used to walk on the frozen lake surface. Snowflakes were floating on the lake water even in the month of May. Roads used to be cleared thanks to the city still snow used to be like hillocks around. Nowadays it's the same situation here in Toronto. City expects that it will take three weeks to clear all that mess. My walks are on hold for now. I try to go to the Coffee house to change my scenery whenever I can. My grandson goes to the gym. I coordinate with his schedule. My son was going to get groceries yesterday, He dropped me at Tim Hortons. Even the coffee house entrance was not safe. I was taking my steps very carefully. We try to get out...

Wait Coffee is too hot

Image
It's early morning on cold wintry days. Cloudy morning, the sun is hiding somewhere inside his grey blanket. Not in a mood to wake up early. Maybe he wants to enjoy his weekend.  Snow is all around such a peaceful, serene atmosphere. My deck is under a thick sheet of ice. Red garden chair looks beautiful with thick white cushions. On the back in the flower bed of my back garden plants of pink Canadian roses and the blood red David Austin roses, are now transformed into bushes. They are now loaded with white Cottony flowers not with roses anymore. It is 10.30 in the morning, I am standing by the front door of my house. Very different view here. My red wooden bench is loaded with a bulk of white stuff. Hockey net by the garage side looks knitted with pearls in between and also decorated with icicles. What a beauty to behold to cherish. It is 11.15, I am at the lakeside. Water looks Steel gray in color at the front. At the back it is Beige with a golden hue giving...

Goodbye Year 2024

Image
December 31st, 2024 Today is the last night of the year 2024. So much has changed for us. There must be a bundle of things, all mixed up. We have to come across so many ups and downs in our day to day matters. This is the beauty of life. Life is not stagnant. It is like a river moves on, no matter what.  We have to bid farewell to the year 2024 with good hearts. We must have some difficult moments during that time. We must have come across many wonderful moments during those days. We usually remember whatever we lose. Rarely give a thought about what we have. What we go on getting, we take it like we deserve all that. Never take it as a big deal.  The happy moments, our being in good health. The people around to talk. Nature to enjoy moments to make our days. The bundle of twenty four hours, we get every morning throughout our life. We can spend it wherever we want. Whatever we like to do with that time, we are allotted. Never any question asked in our entire lif...

Miss you Mom

Image
December 28th 2024 Couple of more days to leave this year behind and to enter a brand new year of 2025. I am sitting in a Coffee house. It's a festive atmosphere. Not many young people are here.  Most of the people are around my age, enjoying the company of their choice. Youngsters are busy with their take out orders. Drive through is very busy. It's 11.30, I am enjoying my small tea and the atmosphere around. Weather is good 2C, it is like summer for us in Canada. It's drizzling. I am going to Tim Hortons to enjoy my walk and my morning tea. I will put my cap on and will dress up properly. No worries. We have to manage circumstances to make our day. Sometimes we have to open up our memory box to dig out our golden moments, we spent, enjoyed and saved, to lock up in our memory box. Same is drizzling for me.  It reminds me of my childhood period. I used to get out in the rain and after a while my mom used to shout at me, “ come inside, you will ...

Try to enjoy your time

Image
To all my  Dear Readers Merry Christmas         and Happy Holidays   It's nearly end of December. Cold days long nights. I am at the lakeside. Water is glistening under sunshine. It is beauty of Canada that sun is up and above most of the times in winter time to make our days brighter. So nice of him. Here at lakeside path is usually cleared of snow during winter, not done today. Maybe it is Christmas days, people go on vacation. There not be many staff to cover things. I am walking by the road side. It is better to take safety measures before any damage be done. Injuries and fractures are not good at any age. It will be drastic especially at our age. We will be done for the rest of our days. Better to be careful before it's too late to be mended. We have control of our life all the time. It is all up to ourselves how we handle things. We are masters to make things happen to make our days. We have to make adjustments. Adjustments...

Enjoying December Days

Image
December started about two weeks ago. New Year is on the way, and will be soon here. We had snow a couple of times. Today there is nothing just by the road side and by the side of walkways. Things have changed, I think, because of global warming. We now don't have heaps of snow and ice. I remember windchill used to be in September and snow used to start by November. From December to February used to be tough. People used to become tired like it will never end. I was in Ottawa thirty years ago. Winter over there used to be really tough. Ice floats on lake water even in March. Rideau Canal used to be changed into an ice skating rink. I joined a couple of things to get out to pass my cold days, long nights and short days. I used to get a monthly bus pass to move around. We have to find ways to make use of our time. Complaining won't help anything out. Nothing changes, we have to change our own self. Make plans according to the available circumstances. I joined Oxfa...

I am at Tim Hortons

Image
November 19th 2024 Beautiful morning, no rain, no snow. It is cold 5 C, what else do we expect these days? December is getting closer. We are ready for snow anytime soon. We are all set, and learned our lessons on how to cope with all that. No worries. We humans are amazing creatures. We adjust to any circumstances, able to handle and to make our time. We Canadians have a list of winter sports. Ice hockey, skating, fishing, snowboarding and so many other things make our days. We have cleats to walk on our frozen waters. We just bundle up to hit the roads. Nothing stops our day to day activities. Sun also comes out most of the time to brighten our days. I think he also learned his lessons to handle 25 C below zero temperatures. It is the beauty of  Canada. Sun goes back early to take rest under his hazy blanket. He must be cold, wants to warm up. We have to switch lights on, sometimes even at 4 pm. We know that the sun has to leave early. He needs a break ...
