Small Double Double

Today temperature is 23°C
in Toronto it means a big thing
after a long snowy winter
and rain now time
to celebrate the Spring
green is peeping out of dead woods
Birds start chirping back from South

TV was on and I was overhearing the News
Not paying any attention to what is going on
There is always something going on and if
I am not part of that why should I care
I can not change any of these
damn things going on 
all around the world

I can take care only of the small world of 
mine That is also not easy
needs lot of efforts
After seventy years of age
 you have to do lot of work to
revive your body and soul
I was staring the TV screen and
 all of a sudden noticed that
today's temp is 23

I was having my lunch
I skipped the tea and
convinced myself to get out for a walk
Most of the times
I have to bribe myself so made
some promises
To buy a coffee to me
with something delicious
and succeeded to push myself out of  home
It was first time after so long that
I was not wearing any
light jacket or sweater
I was out and now a
part of this buzzing atmosphere


My first stop was Tim Horton
15 minutes walk from my house
Keep in mind it is my walking time
My grandson calls it Tim's
I had a small double double with one sugar
and a Danish

I can not finish even the small Coffee
so throw away the rest and
forget about finishing the Danish
so I saved it for my grandson

This pops up in my mind so many times
that like kiddy scoop and portions for
 kids
there should be
portions for we Seniors too

  January 12th 2024 It is around mid of January. Time for us to, start getting snow storms. This will be off an on, for the next couple of weeks. It is 10.15, mixed sunny cloudy morning, windy too. Gusts are 38 to 48 km.  Friday used to be my work day, not today. Kids day camp is going on in the library, at my work place. I am off for the whole week. I have to find my own things to do, to get busy. From Monday, things will be back on track. I will be having my regular work hours. It is 11.45, I am getting ready to walk to Tim Hortons. I take it as my second home. I know that it is cold and windy. I am all set with gloves, stole and three layers underneath my winter coat. I will be fine. Whites Road and walkway is, all clear of snow. I see some white patches of snow, by the side of road, under trees and bushes. This is the beauty of Toronto, snow cleared right away.   July 7th 2023 It is hot sunny morning, 9.15 and already 24 C, feel like 26. I woke up early, done with my breakfast. Talked to one of my daughters, my middle one, called me from Grimsby.  She was going home, done with her work. It was a brief talk. She was busy, picking up her son, on the way from school. My other daughters are still at work. They will call me later on. We talk everyday, not much, just to connect.  I am busy with my computer. No message from my childhood friend. She never skips, must be busy. She was at her son's place in Sydney, was planning to go back to Perth, to be with her daughter. She must be stuck, other matters to be resolved. Anyway we have to find our own, "Things to do", to get busy, to make our day. Don't have to wait for people's calls and messages. I am busy playing Scrabble and Card games on my computer. Computer is sort of Blessing for me. I don't know how my Mom used to pass her time without phone and computer. How come she

  June 13th 2023 Beautiful morning. Great weather. It was raining all day, yesterday. Stopped at late night. I was working, Mondays are my work days. Have to go to play Darts. It starts at 9.30 in mornings. We were thirteen all together. Picked our numbers to make teams. Two boards with four teams. Three players in each. One team was odd, I mean with four. Anyway we enjoyed. Thirteen seniors on a rainy day, out to play, to enjoy time together. Amazing at that age. Gives inner peace. Boosts will power with affirmation that we still can do it. Rain or no rain, nothing can stop, to make our day. I think, will is everything behind your motto. When there is a will, there is always a way to go ahead, to move on, to do what you want. Today is Tuesday, weather is great 18 C, a bit on a cooler side. I am off, not working on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Last week I booked my flight to England. My daughters were pushing me for that.
