Guest Speakers From Outside -- They are Experts in
Their Fields But Believe Me -- No One Likes
Speaker Event
They Take about an Hour with Slide Show and
Charts -- They May Be an Expert in Their Field
But I Think Lacking in The Field Of
" How To Make People To Listen "
I Believe This Art Doesn't Need Selection Of Classy
Language Or Beautiful Pictures -- Colorful Charts and
Diagrams To Give Presentation
It Simply Has To Be Short and Sweet Straight From
Your Heart To Directly Connect Your Audience
That Works and People will Listen To That
We Don't Have To Waste Time and Work Hard
On Making Presentations and Giving Speeches
Try First To Absorb The Subject Then It will
Be Easy To Deliver

Dear Madam Smile, You so good. You write so good. I go Mr. Supervisor and say him. Dear Mr Supervisor why you give so boring talk when we meeting. He say what you mean. I say the talk you do when we meeting is very boring and no one like when you make picture and graph. Why you no able talk from heart . This way people listen. ReplyDeleteThe retirees were very embarrassed when we read your blog today. We were embarrassed because we have been asking same questions. Since it was the retired corporate executive who challenged you, we have initiated the process to suspend her membership. She pleaded that she was inquiring not to question you but to get clarifications about how you go about the process of putting together these blogs. The retirees have taken that into account and instead of suspending her membership right away , have decided to delay that by a day so you have a chance to reflect on the decision. To avoid additional work for you, we advised the retired corporate executive that if you do not explicitly ask for her membership to be restored then this membership will be terminated
The retired professional public speaker pointed out that the items that you shared about public speaking is right on the money. She mentioned that she used to give presentations and media events for senior government members but she used to get the impression that people are not interested in listening. She said that she then added more charts and more graphs in the presentations. She said that she wished she would have known about the real reason at that time. She is planning on sharing details about public speaking with active members so they can learn from it. She was about to ask for references but stopped herself because of the procedural actions that we initiated against the retired corporate executive

ReplyDeleteWe read your blog at the SRC today. Your blog hit a raw nerve as all the students clapped when we read the blog. We all agreed that the presentations that the professors and other presenters give are very boring. It is full of information but we cant relate to it. They need to learn the art of presenting. The professors were very defensive but Prof George said that Smile is right. Since he is the one of the senior most professor at the uni, most people were surprised that he admitted. Dean also agreed with you. One of the professors asked for a plan to get more training for the professors and perhaps hire some experts to deliver the training. The Dean said he will however he asked us to check with you if you can provide some material. When we asked him that since he will be working to get some experts to present should we still ask you for your help, the Dean responded that who can be a bigger expert than you. He said that he publicly did not commit because he not sure about you so in case you are busy then he will work on getting some experts as a back-up option. One senior professor overheard him and asked if he meant that Smile wont have the expertise? The Dean responded angrily that how can anyone qs her expertise, he was simply referring to Smile's schedule The Dean does not get upset easily so we were surprised that he was upset when the professor asked him that.
The students are under a lot of stress these days. We have our final exams coming up and the parents are still wanting us to call once a week. They dont understand that we cant simply drop everything and call them. If we are late by 1-2 days then threaten us to cancel our phone. The phone is our lifeline so we are stuck
