From Reading to Grimsby

Beautiful hot humid morning. July gone,  August started. We have couple of more weeks to enjoy our summer time, here in Canada. It is 9.30, 25C feels like 30. I was organizing my closet and by looking at my gloves, sweaters and woolen stoles, couldn't believe that I was using all that just couple of weeks back. 

It is beauty of Canada that you can have a feel of all four seasons. You can enjoy Canyoning, Kayaking, Fishing for couple of weeks and switch to Skiing and ice fishing sort of things. Get busy with Gardening, enjoy Bird watching and after that Beautiful Fall colors will be waiting, to give you Treat. 

It is 10.30, I am done with my breakfast and with my morning walk in my back garden. My friend the White Butterfly was there, talking to flowers. Black Squirrel was busy with his exercises. He looked happy, smiling. I enjoyed the company of my friends and also the scenic view. Morning breeze was like cherry on top. All was enough to make my day.

I am in my room now, with my computer, browsing Facebook messages. My daughters, from Reading and Kent, were in Grimsby, to enjoy couple of days with their elder sister. They posted their pictures and videos for me to share. I am enjoying all that. 

They are going back, now stuck on Motorway. It is five hours drive from Reading to Grimsby but in England, you can not predict, all depends on traffic. They started early, five hours are already done, it looks, will take two more hours. Kent will take further couple of hours. They are tired but happy. When your heart is into it, you never regret.

    I have posted the blog in Smile Corner. As usual customers are lining up to read the blog. As per your orders, I am maintaining social distancing and all other SOPs. The Mayor was here today also. He comes every day. He was again asking me if I have received your approvals but I told him that because of net problems, you are not getting my comments. I apologize for bringing this up again as I know that you are very busy but the Mayor is asking me every day about the status. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the Mayor is suggesting that we only allow fully vaccinated people in Smile Corner. He is saying that this will help get immunization rates go up as everyone wants to come to the Smile Corner. Can you suggest what we should do?

    My daughter in law needs a lot of help. She wakes up late, watches soaps all day and does not speak nicely to me. She reads your blog every day. Can you please tell her how to lead her life

    Dear Madam Smile, you so good. You write good to. Mr. Supervisor come and say how you. I say I so happy. I say I happy because my Madam happy that her daughters go to meet their elder sister. Mr. Supervisor say what you talking? I say my Madam daughters live in Reading, Kent and Grimsby. The daughters in Reading and Kent go to meet the daughter in Grimsby. Mr. Supervisor say it good but how you know all this detail. I say Madam write in blog. I then take copy of blog from pocket and show him. He say yes but this is too much detail to remember. I say yes that why I need to read the blog many time. He say ok that good. I say all readers need Madam blog because my Madam really good, Madam write advise for all dear readers, like dear retirees, dear Kris, dear Kris father, dear Hannah, dear Niklas, dear N, dear Happy Reader, Dear Mother in Law, dear N, dear Dave and Linda, Dear Literature Fellow and dear Me.     Dear Advisor.

    We read your blog with a lot of concern. We know that you are independent, but we are surprised that you are organizing your closet. We retirees dont do that. We also dont do any cooking for ourselves. The retirees are concerned that your son is not doing all these things for you. The retirees are also concerned that your grandkids are sponging you for money because you mentioned a few days ago that you got candies for them. They are big enough to be getting things for you. Our grandkids dont like to spend time with us but when they do come at Christmas time, then we remind them that they have to bring things for us. They dont like to hear this but we think its our responsibility to remind them.mpics

    There was a little chaos today as your Indian compatriots presented a resolution asking us all to recognize Indian excellence in the Olympic games. There was a lot of opposition to it as many retirees felt that India only did ok but did not top the medal tables. After some deliberations, they changed the resolution to say Indian Olympians were the best in among all the subcontinent countries. The hijab lady and her temple friends appeared to get offended by this and were opposing it. They said that Smile does not want to talk about religion but your Indian friends pointed out that this has nothing to do with religion. Also, they are simply acknowledging a fact. The retired priest noticed that the hijab people dont like this so he also supported the resolution and suggested that the Indian people run a slide show next time to showcase their brilliance.The Indian people said that if the temple people have something interesting then they can also bring it in their slide show, for example any medals etc. The Indian compatriots asked the hijab lady how their cricket team did in England. The temple people didint respond to the question but simply said that we should get your approval before the slide show. All the retirees agreed to this

    Dear Author,

    We read your blog at the Smile Garden today. There were a lot of people for this reading but Mrs Lucy got banana smoothies for everyone. She gave them to everyone in a sealed disposable cup. When she noticed that some professors are not comfortable, she said that I used gloves during its preparation and didnt touch anything with bare hands. The professors said that there are 250+ people so its too much for her but she said that everyone here is Smile’s guest and she does not want anyone to go without any token of gratitude.

  January 12th 2024 It is around mid of January. Time for us to, start getting snow storms. This will be off an on, for the next couple of weeks. It is 10.15, mixed sunny cloudy morning, windy too. Gusts are 38 to 48 km.  Friday used to be my work day, not today. Kids day camp is going on in the library, at my work place. I am off for the whole week. I have to find my own things to do, to get busy. From Monday, things will be back on track. I will be having my regular work hours. It is 11.45, I am getting ready to walk to Tim Hortons.   July 7th 2023 It is hot sunny morning, 9.15 and already 24 C, feel like 26. I woke up early, done with my breakfast. Talked to one of my daughters, my middle one, called me from Grimsby.  She was going home, done with her work. It was a brief talk. She was busy, picking up her son, on the way from school. My other daughters are still at work. They will call me later on. We talk everyday, not much, just to connect.  I am busy with my computer. No message from my childhood friend. She never skips, must be busy. She was at her son's place in Sydney, was planning to go back to Perth, to be with her daughter. She must be stuck, other matters to be resolved. Anyway we have to find our own, "Things to do", to get busy, to make our day. Don't have to wait for people's calls and messages. I am busy playing Scrabble and Card games on my computer.   June 13th 2023 Beautiful morning. Great weather. It was raining all day, yesterday. Stopped at late night. I was working, Mondays are my work days. Have to go to play Darts. It starts at 9.30 in mornings. We were thirteen all together. Picked our numbers to make teams. Two boards with four teams. Three players in each. One team was odd, I mean with four. Anyway we enjoyed. Thirteen seniors on a rainy day, out to play, to enjoy time together. Amazing at that age. Gives inner peace. Boosts will power with affirmation that we still can do it. Rain or no rain, nothing can stop, to make our day. I think, will is everything behind your motto. When there is a will, there is always a way to go ahead, to move on, to do what you want. Today is Tuesday, weather is great 18 C, a bit on a cooler side. I am off, not working on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Last week I booked my flight to England. My daughters were pushing me for that.
