Skeleton Trees The Great
Friday -- Beautiful cold sunny morning with 20 C below zero. Not snowing today but Weather Channel warning cold alert for couple of days. It is 9.15, I am done with my breakfast, having my morning cup of tea, also enjoying the view of my back garden. Snow is all around. My steel garden furniture is half covered under the ice blanket. Glass top of my patio table, loaded with thick sheet of snow.
It is 10.15, I am in my room, sitting with my friend, my computer. It connects me with my family and friends, takes me to various places to enjoy my time. Blinds of my windows, are drawn up. I am enjoying the view of my front garden and also connected to my neighborhood.
My neighborhood is quiet. Cars are not on driveways. They are hiding inside the garage. I think, people are working from home, kids also doing things online. That makes a lots of difference. The nearby Whites Road doesn't look busy too, can't hear much traffic over there.
My garden is not a garden anymore. Red wooden bench is loaded with white stuff. Grass is hiding under the thick white blanket. I salute my friend, the Black Squirrel. He is not backing off, walking around on the front garden.
Skeleton trees decorations are no more there. Wind taken everything away. They are now standing quietly, waiting for the next episode of Mother Nature. Standing there, calm and quiet, with their heads high.
I think they know, things will change. They are thinking of the days ahead. They know there is always light at the end of tunnel. This too shall pass. I salute their positive attitude.
It is 1.30, I am at the lake. Every season is unique, with it's own beauty. The lake is frozen. People are skating and playing hockey on the frozen surface. Not many people walking around. Mostly, people are enjoying on the lake. I stayed there for a while, not long, just wanted to have a feel and to have a taste of the real Canadian winter.
I have posted the blog in Smile Corner. This may be the final weekend for Smile Corner because I have not heard back from the authorities about the letter that you asked me to send. The councillor said that the offices are closed so no one is probably picking up mail. The priest is however saying that we should start a protest against the lockdown. He said that there have been a restaurant owner in Toronto who did that and he became a hit. He also showed me news from the first day of his protest and there were a lot of people even on day 1. As usual I said to him that I will wait for your approval because it is really your cafe now . I have been writing about this regularly but I think you are not getting my comments. The priest said that we should start with the protest from Sunday but the councillor said that I should wait for your comments and not take any action before that. I know you are very busy but I hope you get a chance to respond. I am sorry for taking so much time discussing my problems.

DeleteYou go for walks in freezing cold weather, helps out so many people, solves problems in far away land. My mother in law on the other hand, does not walk at all, not even when it is +20 C. She creates problems not solves problem. Your daughter in law is the luckiest daughter in law to to have the best mother in law in the world.

Dear Madam Smile, you so good. You write good to. I go happy worker and say him how you? She say I ok. I say I want tell you something secret. She say ok go ahead. I say job worker 2 explain to me that Madam is like magician. Happy Worker say yes she right. I say so you also agree? Happy worker say of course but I am surprised that job worker 2 is saying that because she usually tricks you. I say no she very nice. She tell me that Madam friend is squirrel and computer. Only magic person can do it. Happy Worker say Madam is magical author. She creates magic with her words. I say no she do skating on lake, she has ice blanket. ReplyDeleteThe retirees appreciated your blog today. We continue to be amazed that you venture out in -20C weather. The retirees dont go out when the temp is below +15C. There are some new retirees who have joined us and they thought that this is a typo as it is impossible that anyone who is 70+ can go outdoors in these conditions. We have suspended the membership of the retirees who questioned your blog and accused you of exaggeration.. This include among others, retired physical trainer, the retired professional athlete and the retired professional skier. The retired corporate executive asked us to wait because she mentioned that she has committed grave mistakes in the past and yet you have forgiven her. The retired judge agreed with this position and asked us to wait for 2 days before suspending them.
The retired priest is requesting your advice. He said that he is looking for ideas to make his lectures more interesting. He delivers sermons sometimes and during that time he noticed that people are yawning and not paying attention. His sermons are typically 1 hour in duration and covers his personal stories as well as other examples. He wants to deliver these sermons to young people and was asking you because you are very popular with young adults
The Indian temple people are continuing to sit in the back benches. They look very down especially after you asked them to cancel the Republic celebrations on Jan 26th. The hijab lady and her silkh friends are very happy though. They always make comments about the Indian people and always do chant of Ella Homa at the end of your blog. They have been feeling very emboldened because they say you always support them
The cafe manager is waiting for your approval before he can do a celebration to thank you for helping to get his job back. Some patrons asked him to do the celebration but he said that he will not do that until you give him an ok. I am sorry to repeat but he got his job back because of the open letter you wrote about 2 weeks ago

ReplyDeleteWe read your blog at the Smile Garden today. After the reading, Dean and Prof George were heard talking to each other. They were concerned that you are going out in such cold weather. The Smile Army heard that and started raising slogans against your son. The Dean however took charge and reminded them that though they are right but you have asked everyone to not say anything about him The Smile Army reluctantly stopped. We then started playing darts.
The students are starting to get very annoyed because our parents are continuing to interfere with us. They ask us to call frequently, and in one case at least once a week. Not just tat some parents are planning to come to meet us in 1-2 weeks. We are telling them that we are busy and meeting once a month is an overkill but they dont understand. Some of the students were saying that after all we cant be like the lucky guy! We are hoping that our parents can also understand because it is very frustrating.
