From Grimsby, England

Happy Easter to my Dear Readers March 30th 2024 I am in Grimsby, came from Reading two days ago. Beautiful morning 9 C, sunny and bright. Grimsby is small town, I come here so often to see my daughter, her friends and colleagues, know me well. They had a get together last night, I was also invited. It was good, I enjoyed, got couple of gifts too.  I started my journey from Reading, from my youngest daughter's place, on 28th morning at 9.30 am. Her husband drove me and my son to King Cross station. It was great, straight forward, just one  train for two hours to Doncaster and from the same platform, for one and half hours to Grimsby town.  It was nice of my daughter and her husband, otherwise we had to go to Woking station to Waterloo, change to tube and trains to go to King Cross, to get trains for Grimsby. Traffic in London is very unpredictable. My daughter reached home, at Reading in three hours from King Cross.  Young generation is smart, they don't like to...

From Ilford, England

I am here in London for just couple of days. I am all set, walking in my daughter's back garden, having morning tea outside, there, enjoying my time. My daughter takes me to drive, whenever she can. This morning, we went to Windsor castle. We were planning to stay there for some time. My daughter was about to enter the parking ticket, it started raining. We changed plans and went to Ascot, the horses race area. Beautiful grounds and stadium, to watch the races. It was good drive.  Yesterday, I was in Ilford to see my sister. She is ten years younger than me, not in good shape, going through many challenges. Had an accident, her hip surgery was done couple of months ago. She is now mobile still taking things slow.  She has a big house, sitting alone there. Her garden was full of Tulips, so many beautiful flowers all around in her garden. It was looking great. Her son was on a trip to Spain with his family. I love my sister very much. My son and daughter were also with me...

From Reading, England

March 26th 2024  I am in England, at my daughter's place in Reading. Yesterday, I was in Oxford at my grand daughter's place. Oxford is a city of Uni and colleges. I liked the old architecture. Flowers around. Coffee shops and eateries, all crowded, I think, mostly were students.  It is hard to drive in city area anywhere in London. You can not get parking space. Speed limits go on changing, difficult to keep track. You get tickets easily. It comes in mail sometimes, it is for sixty pounds and you get surprised, what did I do, where I went wrong. If you are lucky, it will be for twenty pound not less. Her husband is very considerate. He dropped us in the downtown area. Rare moments for me to enjoy with my daughter, my grand daughter and my son. It was like a combo of three generations. We walked around, enjoyed. Beautiful moments to cherish, to lock in your memory box. It is great to be with your loved ones.

From Toronto to London

Reading, England March 23rd 2024 Beautiful bright sunny morning. I am in England, in the land of my daughters. Three of my daughters live here. I came yesterday, Friday afternoon. Air Canada landed at 11.10, me and my son were in Reading, at 12 30, at my youngest daughter's place. Reading is not far from Heathrow Airport. It is Saturday morning, I am sitting in the eat in kitchen area, enjoying my oatmeal porridge and stir fried egg. My daughter had everything ready for me to enjoy.  I am having my morning tea in her back garden. Garden is looking great. Tree loaded with Pink Camila. Daffodils are smiling in the green pot at one corner. Grass is all cut neat and green. Pots lined up at the right side, on the raised semi circle platform. All shades of green, I can find here in her garden. Gardening needs lots of work.  She loves that and takes good care of her garden. It is 12.30, I am in car with my daughter, my son is also with me. We are done with grocery, now going t...

Going to UFT, with Slurpee Boy

Image
March 19th 2024 It is a cold wintery day. Two more days to go, for me to get my flight to England. It is Tuesday, my Blog writing day. I try not to miss, to write my blogs. Mostly I write, sitting in Tim Hortons, at my favorite spot. I was all set, about to leave. It was 5 C below zero, so I got my heavy winter coat, my woolen cap, Stole, glove, everything with me. Light snow started showering from up.  I have to change my plans. My youngest grandson, the Slurpee Boy was about to leave to Uni for his Quiz exams. My son was driving him there. I changed my heavy coat to a lighter one, and decided to go with them.  Nothing is end of the world. We have to adjust according to the circumstances and have to keep our plan B ready to switch. Sometimes, our planning doesn't work.  My suitcase is at the right side, beside the window, in my room. I am dumping things, will decide to short list, what to carry with me. We have to check the weight, not have to go with the wis...

Letter to my Dear Readers

Image
March 18th 2024 Dear Friends, Comments from your side, are on hold due to Glitch. I miss that very much. Anyway, we have to take it whatever is there. Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying your time. I am getting ready for my flight. Time is getting closer, I have to check the list, not to miss anything, I will be needing over there. Weather in London, is tricky, not like here. We usually rely on weather predictions in Canada. It goes wrong, sometimes, not often. Climate in England is damp, we feel a bit chilly. I have to be ready to face whatever will be there, in coming days. I still remember, years back, I was in London, at my sister's place, to attend her daughter's wedding. It was 8 C, I just got my sweaters and light jackets. I was shivering. Here 8 C, is like summer in Toronto. I am taking my winter coat, gloves, stole, I am all set for England. No worries. My daughters and my sister, all waiting. It will be great to see all my loved ones. I am worried about coup...

I booked my flight

Image
Happy St Patrick's day To all my Irish Friends March 15th 2024 It is 6 C, rain was early morning, no more now. No more snow. Weather is great. My deck is all clean and washed. Red wooden bench is shining at the corner of my front garden, under the Magnolia tree. Birds are back from South of the border. Time to get out, to hit roads, trails and waters. No more hiding, indoors. I booked my flight to England to see my daughters and my grand kids. They are excited. I know, it will be tough for them to manage room for me to stay, as  houses are not so spacious in England.  Here in Canada, not much population, so space is not a big problem, still nowadays, kids need their own domain.  Their own privacy.  Not like in our days. We used to share room with others.  Every era is different. Generations adopt changes according to the circumstances. Change is the beauty of life.  My son is also going with me. He too wants to meet his sisters and their families. It...

Weather is getting tricky

Image
March 12th 2024 It is mixed sunny warm wintery day. Tough choices for us to make, what to wear, to get out, on these days. Warm under sun, cold under shade. It is 12.30, I am going for my walk, standing beside my coat closet. I have to select something suitable from the stock.  I picked my black and grey jacket to wear. It looked perfect, not too light, not too heavy. I took my red woolen stole too for just incase. I walked for a while, was about to enter Whites Road. I was not comfortable, feeling a bit cold. I gave a second thought to my jacket. I think, have to go back to change for a heavy one. I got my black hoody. I am on the way to Tim Hortons. I am missing my gloves, my hands are cold. I keep one pair of gloves in all my coats and jackets, how come I missed this one. Anyway, we learn lessons out of all this. Next time I will be careful to check things before getting out.  My daughter, my youngest one is calling me from Reading. I have to cross Whites Road, have ...

Have breakfast later

Image
March 9th 2024 Hazy morning, raining since last nigh. It is 8.30, my youngest grandson has to go to Uni for his mid term exams. My son is going to drop him there.  It will be rain all day, my  walks will be on hold.   I will get my coat and joggers, to go with them, to Uni.  I will have breakfast later. I don't want to miss my chances. We have to get whatever chances available to get out, to change our scenery. It helps to boost our will power, also manages our mood swings. Try to get out, keeping track of your health and safety. That is priority at any age. We don't have to wait for sometimes later. God forbid our health may not be the same as today. Things change so quickly. Time flies. What is today, won't be coming back. Every moment is rare, slipping away, will be lost forever. Value every moment. Sometimes we are stuck, not so mobile. Try to change positions, to get a different view. Lookouts are everywhere, at our houses /apartments. We just take it for...

My sweater is a souvenir for me

Image
March 5th 2024 Beautiful morning sunny and bright. Sun is fully awake, eyes wide open. Shining up and above in full bloom. I hanged all my heavy coats and jackets, at the back of my coat closet. It is now time to wear sweaters and something light. I have couple of light jackets. One is very light with sky blue and navy blue combination. I got it, years ago for five pounds from Oxfam, in Grimsby. That jacket is my favorite one.  It is not so hot today, it is 10 C. I have to wait, to wear this one.  My other jacket is, with grey and black combination. My son used to wear that. It is very old. I liked it so he gave it to me. It is mine now.  I have one more jacket, not so light. My son gave me as a gift. He got it from his work.  It is 10.15, I am in my kitchen, making banana strawberry shakes for my son, my youngest grandson and for myself. We have to treat ourselves well. It motivates our body to co-operate with our day plans. There is," give and take", in all ...

I am not a coffee person

March 2nd 2024 It is a foggy day, rainy and misty. Sun is still drowsing, not coming out of his hazy blanket, may be enjoying his weekend. It is 9.15, I am done with my breakfast, my oatmeal porridge and stir fried egg. I don't take egg every day. We have to be cautious with our diet, specially at our age.  Me and my son, are awake. He is also an early riser. Everyone else is sleeping at my place. TV is on, we are watching, "Andy Griffith" show. Old shows are good to switch on, we don't have to focus. These are mostly, with low pitch, sort of meditative, good to pass time.  It is 9.45, my son is going to lake. I am getting ready to go with him. It is raining so we will go to the canopy site of the lake. No chance to walk around, still good to be by the lake. To watch the view, to behold the atmosphere.  I am here, lake is sort of misty. No blue water. I hear couple of birds, somewhere inside trees. Not many people here. Just two cars. I think, people are sitting in...
