Not at War
Dear Retiree Friends
I am concerned about
your health
Don't push yourself
just do it once a week
Go to Cafe twice a week
by car to have a group
Meeting
It is very important
to enjoy and exchange
views to Chit Chat
Not a surprise as most Parents
compare their childhood period
with their children's time
Like the facilities they have
and start thinking their Kids
are having a very luxurious
Life style
I start wondering when
Grandparents start comparing
their time period
Give me a break it is more than
half a century behind Era
how can we think about that
We have to be realistic while
pushing our Kids to do things
how can having a car push
him to walk to school
Things like that I think we in
our time had a hard Life all of
us I mean we Seniors
In my opinion it is an ongoing
process like my Mom telling me
about her hard life and saying
that for you everything is OK
We don't realize that World
is moving forward with all the
new inventions providing more
facilities for Life
Think about that how can
we take revenge of all that by
making them walk to school
and feel happy even having this
idea in the back of mind is unfair
We love our Kids very much
like every Parent and Grandparent
does no doubt about that
We start pushing them hard
and want to see them Excel
to see them on top
I think being human it is all our
Ego when we see the Report Card
we can feel proud and can talk
about in Family and Friends
I think 1 or 2 percent marks
costing peace and harmony
of home and whole family
Losing our sleep our blood pressure
shooting up losing our patience
not worth it too much cost for that
In my days Radio was the only
weapon which my Father has
to use I mean rationing the
air time for my Marks
Now you have so many things
like Tablet TV time switching off
Internet taking Cell phone away
Keep in mind we are not at war
to win at any cost and they have
no escape they depend on us
Treat them like your Kids
not like your slaves please
Thank You
I have posted the blog in Smile Corner. Though it is Monday, customers are still coming in to read the blog.

ReplyDeleteBrenda

SWN was great. Everyone was looking forward to it. I overheard someone that they had a team meeting this morning and the manager was very surprised that the team members are so cheerful on a Monday. She asked what's going on because the team used to feel very dull and lethargic on Mondays. Of course someone pointed out the blogs. They were surprised that the managers did not clue in on the reasons for their cheerfulness.
DeleteCleo
SWS was fun. We talked about Smile's blog from the weekend and today. As most people have kids, they were very much interested in that conversation. Some have asked Jimmy for extra copies so they can share with their spouses at home
DeleteTiara
My manager was also surprised when he heard people saying TGIM. When he asked that why are they celebrating Monday, as it usually is considered the worst day in the week as it is the first day back to work. They replied that yes they know, but now it is the day which we look forward to because we get to read 3 blogs and not 1.

I am already getting lots of requests to set up a special Toastmasters meeting to talk about Smile's blog about kids. Lots of people have asked me for that, but I am not sure because the managers still want to go through her blog about Writing. They mentioned that this will require 2 sessions and 1 will not do justice to it. I will check with the managers about this

ReplyDeleteToday's blog is really mind opening for some of the parents.
ReplyDeleteI think, I am not a very strict parent but now after reading this blog, I have to be more flexible with my kid.
Thanks Smile....
Dear Advisor,
ReplyDeleteWe appreciate your kind words about the retirees' well being. We are a little more rested today so went for our long walk. It took almost 10 mins to get there. Of course we had our lollipop. Due to the significant interest in the blog we set up a subcommittee. We have a retired child psychologist who is going to head that.
We also started the work on the other subcommittees.
Thank you

What!! Let me make sure that I get it right. Smile writes a fantastic blog. It addresses key social issues. She helps so many families. And what does she get? Not even the courtesy that her words are read properly? She does not care about appreciation but every artist deserves his or her work to be respected. This is what makes my blood boils. This is no fun. I know, I know, she wants us to be kind, and I will do that but this is just for her.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant comment mrizvi. You are simply unbelievable
CCaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllmmmmmmmmmmm down, Plunker. I know that you are right. Smile does deserve respect, and like every artist, every sculptor, every author, she does deserve appropriate appreciation. But reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllaaax. She wants us to be kind, so we should
ReplyDeleteGood job, kiddo. You guessed right again.
Smile is nothing short of a professor of psychology. Just look at what she wrote:
