Don't Wait Just Do It
Beautiful sunny morning of the third week of February. It is cold 13 C below zero, feels like 25 below. Skeleton trees are beautifully decorated with thick white icing and loaded with Cottony flowers. Such a scenic view around. It is 10.15, I am sitting in my room. I can see my front garden through the big glass panel of my windows. Red wooden bench in my garden, is half embedded under the snow. Grass is all covered under the thick white blanket. I can't see any foot prints. No one is outside. It is like a virgin land. Beautiful calm quiet and peaceful.
My back garden is displaying the same view. I see white spongy heavy cushion on my Red garden chair. Glass top of my steel garden table is under a thick slab of ice. Bird feeders are loaded with snow, no space for birds to enter.
Anyway February is about to end. Couple of more weeks to go. Things will change. Enjoy the beautiful scenic view for now. It will be a total different scenario after, time to get out to enjoy with birds and flowers.
I had to go to my work today for playing Darts. Looking things around, it is not possible to get out. I have to find some other things to get busy. We always have to, our plan "B" ready to get busy to make our day. I checked my table calendar. I have to wash my hair. I did my laundry and changed my bedsheets yesterday. I also have to make some calls.
My daughters will call. They call me every day to share things. Just a brief talk, to keep me connected. I know they are busy with work and with their own family. We parents have to realize all that. Don't have to push our kids. Have to leave them alone to enjoy their own life. We have to find hobbies to pass our time, to enjoy and to make our day.
Old age, I believe like our Golden Era, to do things, we want to do. We are done with our work and with raising our families. Now have time to do our own things, we like to do, so Just do it. Don't have to wait for tomorrow. We don't know about, what will happen tomorrow. Present moment is everything we have, so Just do it.
I have posted the blog in Smile Corner. There continues to be a big protest in front of Smile Corner for the past few weeks against the Covid restrictions that we are continuing to have as Smile Corner. Protestors have been asking me to remove the Covid protocols because Ireland has lifted the Covid restrictions however I told them that I am still maintaining it at Smile Corner because you have not approved it. They have parked their cars and campers, honking horns. The priest lobbied the police to shut down Smile Corner as Ireland has already lifted the Covid mandates but only I have not removed it. The police imposed a fine yesterday which is significant and even if I sell Smile Corner, I wont be able to pay for it. I mentioned to the police, that I cant remove Covid restrictions without YOUR approval. I asked you for approval for the last 3 weeks ago and also writing about it every day but I think you are not getting my comments. Can you please suggest if we should be using the mask or go back to normal and remove all Covid restrictions ? Also I may have to shut down Smile Corner anyways because the fine is significant since police is asking to pay for all policing costs for the past 3 weeks. Can you please help?

ReplyDeleteDear Advisor,
DeleteThe retirees are surprised that you are able to adjust your schedule, no matter what nature or circumstances throw at you. The retirees are a little bit frustrated with your son because he is not taking you to the Senior’s Club activities. We know you very much look forward to it. He is using the excuse that he is busy but all he is supposed to do is to take 5 mins to drop you off. We have some senior retired executives and they all said that one is never that busy to not even be able to take 5-10 mins off.
The hijab lady was here today. She invited some of her fellow tribe members to her place. The retired priest overheard her and he said that why are you not inviting everyone. She said that this is for a religious offering where they invite their tribe members to come over for food. The retired priest didnt appreciate that and is planning install spy cameras near the place to determine what is going on
The hijab lady and her people were talking about some local cricket tournament that is going on in their country. They were telling the Indians that this is the best cricket tournament and lots of Australians and English players are playing.. Your Indian compatriots laughed at that and said first pay all the players
The retirees are continuing to feel very low these days because of Covid and also because of winter. We are looking forward to your advice and ideas how we can keep our energy up
Thank you

Dear Author,
ReplyDeleteThe students are upset at your son that he is not taking you to your regular activities. Prof George and Dean noted this as well and simply shook their heads. The Smile Army saw that and started yelling slogans against him.
The students are continuing to have a very challenging time with our parents. In some cases they even tell us what to eat. This is very annoying. We are adults and can take care of ourselves
Thank you

We read your blog at the cabinet meeting today and were very much inspired by your ability to change course based on new realities. One of the VPs commented that this is something that we need to adopt in our corporate culture. The VP pointed out that though it will be next to impossible to adopt this 100% but even if we can adopt even 50% of this attitude in our corporate culture, we will be so much better as a company.

" I see white spongy heavy cushion on my Red garden chair." Have you ever seen a better description. Herriot, Hardy, Dickens, please leave room for Smile at the top.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!!
Though we never had any misgivings that you are “weatherproof”, yet we hope that you will forgive us to express our amazement that you are powering ahead with your daily routines in arctic conditions as if this is just a stroll in balmy summer conditions. We strive to follow your lead but our efforts are mostly found wanting.
ReplyDeleteAs we mentioned last week, today is our last day in our advisory capacity for the Covid task force. Our role was to assist with communication and crafting the messaging for the national outreach. During this stint, we greatly benefited from you. Though we tried to embody your positivity and your skill in crafting our narratives, we are well aware that we can not even come close to the maestro.
Thank you for making our days brighter
