Take yourselves like custodians
It is Friday morning, very tricky weather, windy with gusts 90 km.
Yesterday it was 6 C below zero, today everywhere like an Ice Rink.
Not safe for anyone to walk, specially for we seniors.
It is 9.30 I am in my office cubicle, writing my Blog, At 10 am, will go to the
next room to play Darts. I am working full time, today Carpet Bowling too
so go back home after 3 pm.
My Eldest Grandson is doing his IV program at Western, in London
Ontario. He called and told me that he wants some points for his business
assignment. My answer was, "OK I give it to your Dad", in my mind, he
needed his help.
He clarified that he will do the assignment, based on my interview and
my story of life. It was a lengthy interview, I am writing here some of the
points briefly.
1 : How you chose your career and your suggestions about that ??
My quick answer was, where your heart and passion takes you.
Mine was to be a Doctor, but in my days in 1960, not many opportunities
for girls, I tried hard but not possible to achieve, so I opted for my
next one, to be a Research Scientist. I did that.
2 : What was the most difficult situation, you handled in your life ?
My answer :
It was the time when my husband's body was lying with five kids around,
between ages of eight and two. I was living far away. I decided to fly with
his body so that his parents and friends be there for his burial. I looked
for work, to start a new life with my kids from scratch.
3 : Who was your Mentor ??
My answer was "My Father ".
I was in Grade 9th. I was explaining my exam paper to my Father.
He told me that it is done, now focus on the next one. That piece of
conversation was stuck in the back of my mind, was always there to
help me throughout my life.
It was like a power to motivate and to tackle the difficult moments in my
life. When we talk to kids and teens, keep in mind that it will stay with
them throughout their life, to play a key role in building their career,
their personalities.
We can give them strength to face the world or can damage their morale
and confidence. Being parents and teachers, we have big responsibility
on our shoulders.
We have to take it as an assignment from God.Take yourselves like
Custodians to manage the welfare and well being of His Creatures.

Even though I got extra supplies of biscuits, there were so many people this weekend that I am almost out of biscuits and also running very low on tea but the councillor said that he will be bringing in the supplies for me. When I said thank you to him he replied, dont thank me. Thank Santa Smile. The priest was here and repeated the claim that Cambridge or Oxford educated British aristocrat are using their flowery words and their "divide and rule" policies to create chaos. He said that the reading should stop. Many customers then walked off from the Smile Cafe. I am nervous that this will cause the crowds and business to reduce

After I clean ofice I supose clean noticeboard and throw all paper sticking on noticeboard but I no thow blog but I take blog home. I bring donut to thank. Dear Madam Smile, you so good. You write good to. I go job worker with video kid and say her how you. She say I busy and no time talk blog. I say her, I no want talk blog, I want tell you idea for video kid and get good mark. She say what you mean? I say if video kid want good mark then he should write about Madam life story. ReplyDeleteThe retirees went for our long walk today. After that we had our lollipop. This walk, though very long for us, is nothing compared to the walks that you have. The retirees instead went straight to the reading of your blog.
The retirees were both amazed and dismayed after reading your blog. The retired senior professor led the reading of the blog. He informed us that Ivey school of business is a very prestigious institution at an elite university. He also noted that your grandson must be very talented as the admission is very restricted and requires acadmeic as well as interpersonal skills. He said that the young gentleman was wise to ask you, an estmemeed author and philosopher for advice on the assignment. The retired philosopher who joined in the reading of the blog, said that the 3 answers that you provided to him are very instructive. He joked that perhaps thats why he asked you and not your son for the assignment.
A no. of retirees thought that your driveway is not clean and covered with ice. The retired ice skating champion said that skating is good, but it should be at the ice rink. Though you did not mention that the driveway has not been taken care of, we deduced this from your blog. The retirees immediately passed a resolution asking your son to take care of the driveway at a minimum. Many retirees who have lived in colder climates mentioned that it is very simple and a simple sprinkling of the salt does the trick. We hope he listens to us.

ReplyDeleteWe read your blog at the SRC today. The Dean had invited the faculty of business to the reading. The senior professor noted that Ivey is a very famous business school. Another professor reviewed the very detailed yet to the point answers that you provided and said that your grandson will probably ace the assignment. The Dean however was sitting with head lowered. Of course this was after the reading as during the reading, he always stands with his eyes lowered. Prof George asked him whey he is so glum, to which he responded that he is concerned about your safety and well being. The Smile Army heard that and they started yelling slogans. The Dean however gave them an eye and made sure that this protest against your son does not go out of hands. The idiots respect him a lot too
