I am at Tim Hortons
November 19th 2024
Beautiful morning, no rain, no
snow. It is cold 5 C, what else do we expect these days? December is
getting closer. We are ready for snow anytime soon. We are all set, and
learned our lessons on how to cope with all that. No worries.
We
humans are amazing creatures. We adjust to any circumstances, able to
handle and to make our time. We Canadians have a list of winter sports.
Ice hockey, skating, fishing, snowboarding and so many other things make
our days. We have cleats to walk on our frozen waters.
We just bundle up to hit the roads. Nothing stops our day to day activities. Sun
also comes out most of the time to brighten our days. I think he also
learned his lessons to handle 25 C below zero temperatures. It is the
beauty of Canada.
Sun goes back early to take rest under his
hazy blanket. He must be cold, wants to warm up. We have to switch
lights on, sometimes even at 4 pm. We know that the sun has to leave
early. He needs a break too.
There Is always a way when you want
to do things, to make it happen. We know that we will be having a long
winter time. Canada is a big country with not much population. Some
provinces have to face tough times as winter lasts for more than six
months with lots of snow.
My eldest daughter in Edmonton, has
more dark days with 35 C below zero and also snowing for longer periods.
City is not able to clear out so much snow on the roads. I was there at
her place last year in February. She had to wear cleats to check mail
from the mailbox across her house.
My daughter has been living
in Edmonton for the last more than ten years. She is all set, not even
thinking to move to any other place. She has her own logic, her own
opinion of having long winters. It gives you more time to focus on work
and house for indoor work to be done. I think she also learned her
lessons to cope long winters.
I feel lucky to be in Toronto.
Roads and pathways, all used to be cleared right away. Even by the lake
side, we can enjoy walking around. We don't have so much heavy snow.
I
never had to use cleats. I walked one time on frozen lake water with my
joggers on. It was not a long walk, for a couple of minutes just to
have a feel of. It was amazing feel to walk on a floor of ice. White
sheet, big, spotless, under your feet.
It's 11.30, I am enjoying
my coffee and my time alone. Time alone is very important, I believe for
everyone. This is the time just for your own self. No one is there to
share to distract your thoughts.
We have time to listen
and talk to ourselves. It works like a sort of meditation. I love my
time alone to enjoy, to listen to myself. To focus on my inner thoughts.
Once in a while we have to be alone to give time to our own self. You
feel inner peace deep down.
